Let’s be real here — we got money on our mind, especially when looking for a career path.

There is nothing to be ashamed about. In this day and age, practicality and sustainability should be on the top of our considerations as we decide where we want to spend the majority of our life.

In this article, we will be listing some of the jobs you can consider based on PayScale’s Philippines Salary Data & Career Research Center for 2023. According to the data company, these are some of the highest paying remote jobs in the Philippines right now for Q1 2023.

  • Software Engineer
  • Virtual Assistant
  • SEO Specialist
  • Project Manager
  • Copywriter

#1: Software Engineers

Because of how reliant we have all become to technology, it’s no surprise that those who take part in building them are well-compensated for their hard work.

Software engineers are responsible for developing the software functions of a tech and for leading a team of programmers and designers into making those functions possible. They also manage the systems database and networks to keep their software running.

To become a software engineer, you need to have a degree in computer engineering, computer sciences, or other related fields of study. Being skilled in programming and coding is also crucial to understand the nitty-gritty parts of the entire software. If you have extremely keen attention to detail and love analyzing complex sets of data and problems, this can be a good fit for you.

In turn, compensation can be pretty hefty, with the median annual salary reaching up to Php 470,000. Entry-level software engineers can also earn up to Php 300,000 already within their first year of employment.

#2: Virtual Assistants

The remote work setup brought by the pandemic also allowed us, Filipinos, to exercise our hospitality and helpful nature and lend a hand to others even from the comforts of our homes.

Virtual assistants dedicate their time and efforts in doing clerical and administrative work for other people. The job responsibilities may include managing emails, booking meetings, planning day-to-day schedules, and many other tasks that the employer may have for you.Although there is no specific degree that you have to attain to be qualified, you need to know a variety of skills to be successful in the job, such as exemplary written and verbal communication skills, time and project management, tech-savviness, and flexibility, among others. The job may be best suited for those who consider themselves as jack of all trades with an amiable and helpful attitude.

In terms of compensation, virtual assistants may earn up to Php 250,000 per year. This figure may greatly vary, as more often than not, the pay is based on the number of hours worked and your rate. Commissions and bonuses are also frequently given by good employers to their outstanding assistants.

#3: SEO Specialists

Do you wonder how businesses and websites get on the first page of Google search results? They got their SEO specialists to thank for that.

The main objective of a search engine optimization (SEO) specialist is to ensure that their company’s website appears on a search engine’s (typically Google) first page of web search results when people are searching for something related to them. This could be done through on-page, off-page, and technical optimization tactics that aim to satisfy the search engine’s criteria of what the “best” source of information is.

Depending on the type of specialization they take, SEO specialists may belong to the company’s marketing or engineering department. This also means that they may need to take up different skills—such as content writing and marketing, programming, or coding—to suit what their company needs. This can be the right job for you if you want to work in a dynamic and limitless field, as SEO standards are ever-changing.

SEO specialists are also rewarded well for their efforts, with their annual salary reaching an average of Php 300,000 per annum. Those who establish themselves as SEO experts can earn up to Php 734,000 yearly.

#4: Project Managers

Companies have to create, execute, and finish several projects at the same time in order for their business to grow. This is where project managers come in and play an essential role for the company’s growth.

A project manager oversees an entire company project and manages all the departments working for it. They serve as the bridge among the teams and between the leadership and the team. They would also need to tap in and help out departments who are struggling to complete their deliverables to ensure that the project is done punctually and excellently.

Because of how wide the scope of responsibilities can be, project managers need to wear multiple hats to be successful in their role. Like virtual assistants, they can be called as jack-of-all-trades, but unlike VAs, they need to somehow be a master of all as well. Above all, project managers need to have superb organizational, leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.

The payoff for the role, however, can make up for the heavy workload. On average, project managers earn up to Php 727,000 per year. A starting per annum salary of Php 370,000 is also not bad for someone who is starting their career in project management.

#5: Copywriters

Do you believe in the power of written content? Can you harness it to inspire action to people?

A copywriter’s job is to use words (and, sometimes, images) to capture the attention of an audience and instill a powerful message upon them, prompting an actionable response. They mostly work in advertising and marketing agencies or departments under a company. They also face clients and coordinate with them regularly to make sure that the copy they produce properly reflects the brand they are working for.

Creativity and flexibility are the foundations of copywriters. You would need not to only think outside the box, but to think where other boxes could be. Aside from that, you would need to adapt quickly to what your client wants and needs their brand message to be. Although no specific degree is required to become a copywriter, an outstanding writing capability is needed for the job.

On compensation, copywriters land in the middle of the pack, with an annual median base salary of Php 309,000, but this can reach up to Php 654,000.
