Job Description
The tasks and responsibilities associated with this position include but not
limited to:
Inflow forecast and hydrological direction for SNAP plants and the system
- Develop, update and calibrate hydrological- inflow forecasting models.
- Assess and prepare inflow forecast for different users (GDP, MA, PP, TT) with different resolution, description of uncertainty, time horizon and update frequency.
- Interpret and operationalize weather forecast for the nearest horizon and historical statistics.
Methodologies, processes, tools and systems for data gathering, measurement, rectification and overall management of hydrological, weather, climatic and other relevant data
- Develop, operate and maintain systems like river and rainfall gauges for automated data gathering, quality assurance, correction, water accounting, data assimilation and inflow forecasting.
- Gather, analyze, sanitize and maintain hydrological and meteorological data for short-term and long-term hydrological modeling and inflow forecasting.
- Maintain hydrology, weather, climate and production data for different uses (e.g. compliance to agreements and public authorities) including water and production accounting.
- Coordinate with various entities (e.g weather Philippines, PAGASA, etc.) that are potential sources of hydrological, weather, climatic and other relevant data.
- Co-management of bathymetric survey and insure correct process and utilization.
Studies/assessment of watershed, hydrology, weather and climate related issues
- Perform special tasks related to operations in extreme weather situations such as typhoons with emphasis on HSE and emergency preparedness.
- Assess the probability and consequence of special weather phenomena such El Nino or La Nina prior to occurrence.
- Participate in discussions about hydro power potential in the market as part of long term market analysis (GWh potential and supply)
- Conduct hydrology related projects, research and studies addressing issues such as drought, sedimentation, effect of climate and watershed change, etc.
- Watershed analysis and modelling
- Perform hydrologic analysis- water availability and power estimation calculations for potential hydropower plants being investigated by GDP.
Come up with applicable policies for joint water management with NIA for Magat dam and NPC for Benguet dam counterparts.
- Represent MTCOG/TPPH in planning and discussions with NIA regarding hydrology, optimal use of water, irrigation, flood management and other related operational issues in Magat dam.
- Represent MTCOG/TPPH in planning and discussions with NPC regarding hydrology, flood management, optimal use of water, and other related operational issues.
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Minimum Qualifications

Eight (8) years experience in hydrology, water resources engineering and management of hydro power plants or any related water discipline

University degree in hydrology, water resources engineering, civil engineering, hydro informatics, geophysics, physical geography, hydrometeorology, or related subject. With preference for candidates with post graduate related studies

Excellent hydrologic and hydraulic modelling skills

Knowledge/experience in operational hydrology and water resources engineering

Knowledge/experience in hydropower plant operations and development

Background in hydrometeorologic data measurement, gathering, and management
