Quezon City Local Government

The Quezon City Polytechnic was created on March 1, 1994 by virtue of the City Council Ordinance No. SP-171 an institution to primarily undertake the training and development of qualified technicians and skilled workers.

The Three-Year Technician Curriculum was introduced in the SY 1994-1995 designed to develop highly competent technicians for industry in the areas of Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Welding Technology, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology, and Fashion Technology. Added to the Three-Year Curriculum in the school year that followed were Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology or Machine Shop, Computer Technology and an industry-led pilot course in Boiler Technology.

The QCPU established its reputation among local government units as a show window and model technology-based institution paving the way for its recognition of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and developing a strong alliance with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In 2001, Ordinance SP – 1030 created a charter for the establishment of Quezon City Polytechnic University. QCPU started its operation by offering one (1) year programs and short term courses. By the year 2005, QCPU started offering college degree courses. Right now, QCPU prides itself in providing employment to its graduates and serves as a tool for national development, particularly in Quezon City.

Under the leadership of Mayor Feliciano Belmonte, Jr., starting SY 2005, meaningful access to higher education is now possible with a ladderized concept of pursuing higher education. The idea is that every person should have the opportunity for education and training commensurate to his abilities.

The Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo) is one of the leading universities in the Philippines. More than 150 years in existence, the Ateneo has grown into a major Jesuit institution. Officially it became a university in 1959. It offers over 100 academic degree programmes. 

Ateneo offers Basic Education (Grade School, Junior and Senior High School). Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities: 

The Program Officer for Formation II is part of a self-managed team (SMT) and reports directly to the Executive Director.

S/he collaborates closely with his/her teammates for his/her tasks, and consults with PO for Program Support to ensure proper development and efficient implementation of the program for their assigned year level.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

I. Program Management

<ul>
	<li>Conduct home visits and student interviews for intake of program participants </li>
	<li>Plan and implement interventions and community-building activities including college bridging, mentoring sessions, batch gatherings, orientation seminars, etc</li>
	<li>Conduct consultations or “kumustahan” sessions with students and other stakeholders (parents, volunteers, partners) and prepare consultation reports</li>
	<li>Coordinate the participation of students in events including donor meet-ups</li>
	<li>Gives critical and reliable inputs about the participants whenever necessary (e.g. during their final acceptance deliberations, donor-donee matching, special concerns meetings)</li>
	<li>Collaborate with Program Officers (POs) for Program Support to align the interventions with the Trailblazers Program objectives and outcomes</li>
	<li>Continuously work with teammates to monitor, evaluate, and iterate the identified caring and community building activities and interventions</li>

II. Administrative and Team/Office Support

	<li>Collaborates with teammates in the performing the administrative functions and other team maintenance tasks such as the following:
	<ul>
		<li>Formulates quality and efficient cluster activities, systems, and processes. </li>
		<li>Acts as documenter or presider/facilitator during SMT meetings</li>
		<li>Acts as documenter or logistical support during the conduct of trainings or workshops</li>
		<li>Gives critical and reliable inputs about the participants whenever necessary (e.g. during their final acceptance deliberations, donor-donee matching, special concerns meetings)</li>
		<li>Submits timely progress reports, program updates, and other relevant documentation to properly transition their batch to another SMT.</li>
		<li>Facilitates information dissemination to the participants</li>
		<li>Prepares budget requests and liquidation reports </li>
	</ul>
	</li>
	<li>Provides critical but constructive inputs during team member’s performance appraisal/review conduct.</li>
	<li>Performs functions as defined by their committee involvement (e.g. Pa-Care, VolMan, GA, Paskuhan, PDE, Finance, etc.)</li>
	<li>Assists other SMT’s in the implementation of their events and interventions </li>
	<li>Acts as support during team events like Education Partner’s Luncheon, Coordinators’ Conventions, Thanksgiving lunches and dinners, other assemblies, planning and evaluation sessions, and multi-stakeholder gatherings.</li>
	<li>Acts as one of the panelists during HR Panel Interview of applicants</li>
	<li>Submitting timely and accurate daily time record</li>
	<li>Overseeing Student Assistants and Service Hours</li>
	<li>Submitting any requirements that may be deemed necessary by the Executive Director, Senior Program Officer, or as requested by other Ateneo offices/units</li>

The position provides guidance and counseling to the students with the help of data from psychological tests and inputs from teachers, administrators​ ​and parents and attends to the personal and psycho-emotional needs of the students in relation to their academic performance and total formation in general.
