Its Glorious Past
GIDC was founded in 1961 by the late Domingo M. Guevara, Sr., a self-made Filipino industrialist and entrepreneur. He had an abiding faith in the Filipino talent and resources, and an unrelenting passion to create products and services meant to upgrade the quality of life of the Filipinos.
Mr. Domingo M. Guevara, Sr. established Radiowealth Incorporated, to become the country’s first 100 percent all-Filipino manufacturer of a wide range of affordable home appliances. Radiowealth was also the first manufacturer of TV picture tubes and electronic parts this side of Asia, ahead of Taiwan and Singapore.
Mr. Guevara, Sr. created another trailblazing company, DMG Incorporated, importers and assemblers of the world-famous Volkswagen cars in the Philippines, which were reasonably priced for the Filipino family. Together with his vison, and hardwork of DMG employees, the company built “Sakbyan” and “Trakbayan” the first utterly Filipino motor vehicles designed specifically for the Philippine terrains.
Today, GIDC remains a Filipino Family owned corporation that has interest in diverse businesses, managed by professionals sharing the same abiding faith and unrelenting passion of its pioneering patriarch.
