Job Description
The Accounting Associate is primarily responsible for the monitoring and recording of payments related to tuition and other school fees due for students as well as receivables from other fund sources.
- Performs job functions consistent with the vision and mission statements and the values of the institution.
- Prepares and posts entries on subsidiary ledgers for collections from the students.
- Prepares, issues, and follows up statements of student accounts on a regular basis.
- Assists in the preparation of the summary of receivables on a semestral basis.
- Undertakes adjustment entries on student accounts in instances of payment through invalid checks.
- Reconciles the total of the subsidiary ledger with control accounts.
- Attends to students’ / parents’ inquiries related to tuition and other accounts.
- Assists in the monthly closing of the books and in the preparation of accounting reports and schedules.
- Undertakes the assessment of fees due from students; Encodes, prints, and issues to students/parents individual assessment forms for enrollment purposes.
- Prepares a schedule of tuition discounts availed of by employees, academic and non-academic scholars for recording in the journal vouchers.
- Prepares and issues examination permit upon verification of payment of accounts due from students.
- Prepares a report on the total tuition / miscellaneous fee discounts for scholars for proper recording in the general ledger.
- Prepares analysis of level and aging of accounts receivables related to tuition and other students’ fees and submits other required reports and schedules.
- Records payment of student accounts paid through the banks.
- Coordinates with the records assistants of the Registrar’s office to ensure that no clearances are released to students prior to settlement of all outstanding accounts.
- Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous, germane or related to and/or implied from the above enumeration of duties and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Highly skilled in providing prompt and friendly service to internal and external customers.
- Proficient in problem-solving, dealing with clients, ability to collect payments, maintain its records and operate a cash register.
- Well versed in performing cash and credit/debit/gift card transactions, and giving and receiving change.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately check for errors or inconsistencies.
- Able to maintain a clean, neat and correctly stocked check-out counter and work area.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Outstanding work ethic and integrity.
- Willing to learn new technology and software applications.
- Effective in maintaining the confidentiality of records and data.
- Able to work collaboratively to attain and exceed common goals.
- Strong analytical and planning skills to contribute to the department
- Good communication and presentation skills.

Currently offering six (6) different Bachelor Degree Programs each with its own innovation, GCIC’s strength lies in its interdepartmental, interdisciplinary and cross-curricular collaborative approach. Each program having a balanced integration of academe, industry and community programs, exposure and immersion. GCIC maintains key partnerships with premier industry organizations like the PCCI ( Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry for business) PMAP ( People Management Association of the Philippines for human resources) PMA (Philippine Marketing Association) among others. It also has a learning based OJT program with choice corporate OJT and apprenticeship partners with the top 5000 corporations both in local and international fields like San Miguel Corporation, Toyota Motors, Petron, Hi-Precision Diagnostics, Intel, St. Luke’s Medical Center, Intercontinental Hotels, Manila Peninsula, and in many leading banks, hospitals and companies in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia. These had contributed to some of our best graduates ( multi-awarded and leaders in their own field). It has achieved a respectable average of 86% passing rate in the Nursing Licensure Exam.
We also continue to provide strong support and connection to our 2,736 Alumni as the Career Assistance and Resource (CARE) office stays current with its alumni community. With an employment rate of 75%, the majority are fully employed with some of the best local and international companies ( based on our 2013 alumni tracer study).
As the country goes through a new challenge of shifting the entire educational landscape to the K12 senior high school system, GCIC, with its team of committed, mission- led core administrative and academic leaders, is determined to always innovate and engage these challenges ahead. As of January 2015 GCIC had obtained its permit ( Deped permit no.018) to offer its grade 11 and 12 in Senior High School program, one of the very select few to be granted the first batch of such permits.
