Job Description
- The Data Engineer is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the enterprise data assets and the optimal technology supporting the data life cycle (i.e. pipeline architecture, data ingestion pipeline, data lake, data warehouse).
- Maintains and monitors uptime and reliability of the Business Units internal data sets
- Develops quality and reliability data structures to ensure the quality and organization of the data sources may it be on prem and/or cloud based (i.e. database server, data lake and warehouse)
- Recommends required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources
- Develops the Governance Framework (Policies, Standards and Roles) for data analytics and its implementation to data analytics solutions.
- Collaborates with subject matter experts to optimize implementation of the Data Analytics tools and solution.
- tools and solution. X Collaborates closely with data analysts to build robust deployments and data pipelines of business-critical machine learning models.
- Implements the delivery of data solution(s) for business stakeholders across different departments (O&M and non-O&M support groups)
- Collaborate closely with IT Network and Security teams on the infrastructure provisioning and security of deployments
- Assists his/her Department Head in the budget preparation, timely submission, monitoring and timing of expense execution/consumption. Coordinates with the Network and Security team for budget alignment and other cost impact coming from IT operations
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong analytical and planning skills;
- Good communication and presentation skills;
- Excellent problem-solving skills;
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Physics or related discipline/field or equivalent work experience
- At least 2 years experience in data engineering for power plant O&M processes and/or non-O&M processes.
- International Association of Business Analytics Certifications or any data engineering related certification (advantage but not required)
- Experience in implementing Extract - Transform - Load (ETL) or Extract - Load - Transform (ELT) architectures.
- Programming/Querying Skills - Ability to create / interpret an existing script in Python, R, or SQL.
- Experience in cloud data warehouse development and deployment
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
- DevOps experience (building CI/CD pipelines, observability of services) is an advantage but not required
- Data Visualization - Familiar with one or more of the following tools (Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio/Looker)
