What is an Accountant?
An Accountant is someone who is responsible for various financial-related tasks, especially those related to the preparation of financial records. The duties of an accountant include calculating taxes and tax returns, managing financial records, and ensuring accurate reports. Accountants must perform all of this work while complying with generally accepted accounting principles.
Accountants generally have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or any related field. In addition, many accountants hold the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential, which is earned by passing a national exam and completing a minimum number of hours of lectures. Accountants usually fall into one of four categories: Public accountants, management accountants, government accountants, or internal auditors.
