Under the supervision of the Security Affairs Section Head, the Security Affairs Officer serves as the main resource for all security matters in the assigned area. The position closely works with the unit administrators and authorized representatives in the assigned area to resolve any security-related concerns and ensure that all security policies are properly implemented.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Campus Security Policies and Protocols
- Communicates the CSMO’s operating plans and ensures that they are understood and implemented within the areas of assignment.
- Collaborates with, and provides technical guidance to, relevant unit administrators and authorized representatives, in the areas of assignment to ensure the effective implementation of University security policies and guidelines.
- Gathers support and buy-in for action plans to improve security, and proactively monitors progress towards established goals.
- Recommends and cascades action plans aimed at mitigating security risks and strengthening security awareness within assigned areas, in partnership with the assigned units.
- Oversees the implementation of security service level agreements for assigned areas, ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations.
Security Services
- Conducts regular security risk assessments in the assigned areas, based on set guidelines and protocols, and recommends measures to improve security protocols.
- Gathers data to determine trends in security risks within the area of assignment, and recommends measures to improve security protocols
- Compiles and prepares detailed summary reports of critical incidents that occurred in assigned areas, including incident response actions and recommendations for improving incident management protocols.
- Manages the processing of security-relates incidents, closely coordinating with the security agency to ensure proper implementation of security measures and investigation of security-related incidents in the area of assignment

- Processes requests for CCTV review and footage and ensures compliance with the CCTV guidelines.
- Oversees lost-and-found systems in the assigned areas.
- Coordinates with representatives from assigned areas on receiving, recording, and releasing lost-and-found items.
- Attends to inquiries related to lost and found.
- Monitors and tracks inventory in the lost-and-found, and reconciles found items with returned items.
- Oversees the outsourced security operations within the area of assignment, closely coordinating with the security agency.
Section Support
- Contributes to developing, reviewing, and updating policies related to campus security, leveraging expertise in security best practices and ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
- Recommends and implements standard response procedures for new forms of emergencies.
- Assists in the periodic review and updating of security service level agreements to ensure alignment with changing business needs and security requirements.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of the security agency in assigned areas of responsibility, providing feedback to the Section Head on areas of improvement and opportunities for enhanced performance.
Performs other duties as may be required by the immediate supervisor or any authorized representative.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Knowledge of administrative and office procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and workplace terminology.
- Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
- Ability to facilitate work and adjust actions in relation to others' actions
- Ability to analyze data and information as input for the formulation of strategic plans, monitoring progress towards goals, and calibrating programs
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience in an academic setting is an advantage
