Software Engineering Manager  

As an Engineering Manager at JoyRide, you are responsible for establishing, building, and continuously improving processes and practices while strengthening the skills of our engineers. Reporting directly to the Head of Software Engineering, you will collaborate closely with other department heads to ensure that company and departmental KPIs, goals, and objectives are met, with a particular focus on driving team improvement and implementing agile practices.

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated and experienced Engineering Manager who will lead the growth of the Engineering Team. You should be passionate and versatile, interested in building innovative products alongside JoyRide’s product teams. We are expanding and seeking individuals who thrive in collaborative and open environments, contributing to multi-disciplinary teams. You'll play key roles in product planning, design, prototyping, and execution.

What you will do..

• Manage multiple teams using current tools and drive improvements in agile practices.
• Guide, coach, motivate, and lead teams to understand and deliver on business and career objectives.
• Define and update objectives with the team regularly.
• Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to align priorities and address technical issues.
• Provide proactive and clear communication to stakeholders, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
• Create a culture of high performance and develop plans to address performance concerns.
• Understand current budgets and proactively identify areas of financial impact.
• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent.
• Support a culture of collaboration, accountability, and engineering and operational excellence.
• Develop standards and procedures to ensure quality standards are met and maintained.
• Demonstrate leadership, inspire the team, introduce new ideas, and leverage new technologies and methodologies to bring value to the company.
• Participate in setting business strategy and contribute technical expertise to business decisions.
• Understand and collaborate on the complete solution lifecycle from concept to execution.
• Recommend new technologies and ideas to improve sprints and efficiency.
• Set achievable and motivating stretch goals and inspire the team to achieve them.

Our ideal candidate has..

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven ability to execute cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
• Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and integrating software solutions.
• Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proven track record in deploying end-to-end technology solutions. Preferably 5-7 years of experience in managing, developing, and scaling engineering teams.
• Ability to balance the needs of the organization in terms of service and solution delivery.
• Strong leadership skills and a sense of accountability.
• Passionate about helping people grow and reach their potential.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Bonus points for..

• Previous startup and/or TMaas (Transportation Mobility as a service) experience.
• Having hands-on engineering background
• Having Certifications on Agile, PMP, Scrum, etc
