Finance Controller | Remote  

Job Summary:

We are seeking an exceptional Accounting leader to assume a crucial role in overseeing the financial integrity and efficiency of our accounting operations. You will be responsible for managing the company's financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic guidance to optimize financial performance. This position demands a seasoned accounting professional with a keen eye for detail, strong leadership skills, and a dedication to driving excellence.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Compliance:

• Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant accounting standards in all financial reporting activities.
• Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address any audit findings or recommendations.
• Partner with the FP&A team to manage financial modeling and forecasting including cash planning.
• Execute timely month end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare and review financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Manage annual financial audits to ensure audits are completed on time and within budget

Internal Controls and Risk Management:

• Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Identify and assess financial risks, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and strengthen internal controls.
• Monitor compliance with internal control procedures and implement improvements as needed to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Accounts Payable Management:

• Supervise the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
• Review and approve vendor invoices, expense reports, and customer invoices, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Accounts Receivable Management:

• Supervise the accounts receivable function, collecting and reconciling payments due from customers within specified timeframes.

Tax Planning and Employee Compliance:

• Collaborate with tax advisors to develop tax strategies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, including income tax returns, sales tax returns, payroll tax, and other required filings.
• Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations and proactively address potential tax implications for the company.
• Manage Company/employee expenses and management of BambooHR.
• Manage the timely renewal and negotiation of insurance policies, including healthcare coverage.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proficiency in tools such as NetSuite and Bill . com.
• Experience in Shopify, Amazon, or other e-commerce platforms.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles and regulations.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and controls.
