Being a Warehouse and Transport Manager is a challenging yet rewarding and fulfilling role! To fully understand the role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
- Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with data storage system
- Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, and issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
- Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
- Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees, and following up on work results
- Maintain warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
- Enhance job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Plan and coordinate our daily product shipments
- Plan and supervise the shipments from production to the end-user
- Schedule daily and weekly routes through proper transport planning
- Monitor and report on transportation costs, and ensure shipping documents are properly filed
- Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
- Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
- Conduct regular safety audits on equipment
- Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
- Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislations while staying up-to-date with safety regulations
