Job Description

Position Summary:

The Technical Training Specialist is responsible for overseeing and effective and efficient implementation of the training programs and initiatives within the Thermal Business Group ensuring that Thermal BU technical personnel possess the requisite qualifications in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitude to safely and efficiently carry out their designated jobs or tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the impact of the training programs and initiatives are aligned to the operational and strategic requirements of the organization
  • Monitors training resources and budget to ensure effective utilization
  • Develops and maintains all governance documents pertinent to the efficient operation of the training programs and initiatives.
  • Assists technical training head in strategizing, planning, and ensuring execution of technical programs and initiatives necessary to develop competencies for the entire organization
  • Conducts regular technical training needs assessments of thermal Thermal BU technical personnel
  • Partners and collaborates with Thermal BU Heads to understand their training needs and align training programs accordingly.
  • Fosters a culture of learning and development throughout the organization
  • Continuously assesses and improves training programs to ensure their relevance and impact on employee performance.
  • Ensures that all training programs and initiatives are in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Be up-to-date on learning industry trends, methodologies, and best practices, and integrate those into professional practice.
  • Liaises with external training providers, professional organizations, and subject matter experts to enhance the organization's training programs and initiatives
  • Develops technical training plans and curriculum to address the identified gaps in skills and competencies of employees in O&M and support departments
  • Develops training materials including but not limited to training manuals, e-learning modules, video materials and ensures that these are up-to-date and relevant
  • Continuously assesses and reviews training materials to ensure that they conform to the as-built condition of the plant and the plant operating procedures, philosophy and practices
  • Identifies internal subject matter experts and external agencies to conduct in-house training and evaluating them as per delivered quality and conformance with company requirements.
  • Reviews and ensures the technical individual development plans in the Technical Career Track are met
  • Coordinates and schedules technical training programs and sessions, both internal and external
  • Attends to technical training requests, such as but not limited to, scouting and recommending training providers and trainers
  • Provides ongoing support to employees, offering guidance and addressing queries and issues on training registration, logistics, payment processes
  • Maintains accurate records of training delivered and facilitated, training participation, certifications, and other pertinent reports
  • Acts as learning management system (LMS) administrator responsible for user enrollment and deactivation,training materials management, and data tracking and reporting
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to the LMS
  • Facilitates on-boarding sessions of the Thermal O&M employees in their training programs
  • Regularly communicates updates and information regarding training programs and initiatives to internal stakeholders, fostering transparency and engagement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Preferably Bachelor’s/ College Degree in BS Psychology, Behavioral Science, Industrial Engineering or any related course
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in technical training development and implementation
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in managing projects
