Job Description
As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information. To make sure Boldr’s financial status stays on track, you will be closely monitoring the revenue, expenses, and future budget changes while evaluating financial data. In addition to that, you will help the company avoid legal challenges by researching and understanding the current and proposed legislation, enforcing financial regulations, and strategizing on efficient procedures for the company.
What will you do?
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new team members in the finance department
- Create, organize, and oversee the daily workflow of the finance department and ensure that team members understand their priorities and responsibilities
- Implement improvement to processes, procedures, and workflow to create efficiencies
- Coordinate day-to-day activities and communication between the finance department and other internal departments in accordance with set priorities. Attend meetings as needed
- Align individual performance and deadlines in ways that comply with organizational goals and communicate them to direct reports
- Conduct monthly performance evaluations by providing fair, constructive, and timely feedback toward performance goals and expectations
- Ensure that team members have professional development plans in place and provide guidance, and coaching support as needed
- Create a reward and incentive program that is aligned with the team member’s efforts to achieve the company’s goals
- Handle discipline and termination of team members in accordance with the law and company policy
- Handle complaints and escalations concerning finance and resolve it in a timely manner
- Identify and recommend updates to account software and systems
- Drive value within the business through margin enhancement, lower costs, and operational efficiencies
- Provide insights into business performance vs. competitor and industry trends
- Develop new metrics for driving business performance relative to strategic priorities and minimizing risk
- Oversee monthly financial close process. Ensure that financial reports are finalized within the given deadline. This includes but is not limited to the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, budget variance, accounts payable, accounts receivable and depreciation schedule, etc
- Perform and oversee accurate, and timely report consolidation, reconciliations, and audits, and troubleshoot any issues that arise. This includes but is not limited to performing necessary variance and other accounting analyses to identify and resolve any discrepancies or gaps
- Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments and similar accounting entries.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the management and advice how the company and future business decisions might be impacted
- Establish processes and ensures internal controls are in place and compliance is adhered to
- Conduct internal audits against standards and maintain internal records for auditing purposes
- Validate and approve bank transactions
- Prepare government compliance filings
- Manage relationships with bankers, auditors, and tax authorities
- Investigate and resolve any irregularities or inquiries
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience in full-cycle accounting (Manager level)
- Experience in accounting systems (such as Xero) is a must
- Knowledge of spreadsheet applications (such as google sheets) is a must
- Strong working knowledge of financial statements
- Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to work with a high level of independence
- Ability to be proactive and in-tune with management needs
